About LSM Mentoring
Hello, my name is Lancelot Shih, I can say for sure that growing up in a community where math and science is a strong suit for everyone, I myself have brought myself to love and excel at the subjects as well.
Over the 2020 pandemic summer, I tutored a select group of individuals between grades 6 - 8 and saw that some students struggle significantly when trying to understand how new things work: not understanding certain concepts to the full extent, struggling on things the teacher glazed over in class, simply learning better with a teacher one on one, or even just getting bored of the material in class because it’s too easy. However, I regard struggle to be where the greatest growth comes from, and being there every step of the way allows me to cherish the success as an accomplishment that my help is in fact working. I strive to be the helping hand to help those students become struggle free, no matter when and where they need it.
Over the years, I've participated in numerous math and science related competitions, including the AMC, Math Olympiad, Science Olympiad, and I have taken AP Calculus AB, AP Biology, and AP Chemistry, and scored a 5 or 4 on their respective exams. I will be taking AP Calculus BC, AP Physics, AP Computer Science, AP Economics, and AP Statistics going into my senior year high school, and am now attending the University of Toronto in Canada for Electrical and Computer Engineering.
I consider it imperative that no student should be left behind as catching up on school is more tiring than leading the way. LSM’s philosophy, to create specialized learning plans for your student, will not only help catch them up to pace in school but even push them ahead of the curriculum.
